The Iceberg Question

Are you IN or are you OUT? On the doorstep, most voters are firmly in the ‘Don’t Know’ camp with a fair viewing saying they ‘Don’t Care’ either way.

I have a lot of respect for the ‘Don’t Knows’ in the Euro Campaign. They have spotted the fundamental flaw with the Referendum. It is what academic researchers call an ‘Iceberg Question’. If you think there can be a simple YES/NO answer to an issue as big as Europe then you are not looking below the waterline.

What most people want is an economy that works better for ordinary people. They want a Government that is on their side. I am not convinced that leaving Europe will stop British factory owners from recruiting cheap labour from abroad. Outside Europe, employers will be free to offer lower pay, longer hours, reduced maternity pay and shorter holidays.

Don’t waste your vote on June 23rd.
