I welcome the proposal for a Conservation Area for Coalville but I am concerned that Snibston has been excluded from the plans.
The District Council is running a consultation until the 31st July on the proposed Conservation Area and I am urging local people to make their voices heard and get Snibston included in the Conservation Area – both the pithead and Discovery Museum.

How can we be ambitious for the future of Coalville when one of its best assets is earmarked for closure by the Tories? There is no greater example of Coalville’s heritage that we need conserving than Snibston. I’m amazed the Tories at the District Council haven’t included Snibston in the Conservation Area.
But we still have time to make the Tory run District Council see sense and help protect Snibston for the future. They’re running a consultation on the Conservation Area and I’m calling on all local residents to make their voices heard by responding and saying ‘we want Snibston included!’.
