Russell Johnson - Hugglescote St John's

Russell_Johnson_photo-1_edited-1.jpgThe land between Grange Road and Forest Road was zoned for housing decades ago. With so much time to think, you would imagine that all the glitches had already been planned for?

A public meeting, called by residents a few years ago demanded the Council look at the infrastructure and plan how they were going to deal with the road system first.

It appears no such work has been done. The community have been told that Hugglescote Cross Roads is 'over-capacity' but it appears no-one has actually crunched the numbers. Without the data each developer can claim that their tiny housing estate won't make things that much worse.

There is money on the table to 'improve' the Cross Road by demolishing the Community Centre and surrounding houses. This will funnel the increased traffic along Ashburton Road. There has been no acceptable alternative offered and no local consultation.

I am working with the Parish to protect Hugglescote village centre.
