Ron Adams - Broom Leys

Ron_Adams.JPGI have lived locally for nearly 20 years and have wide experience of Council work, serving for 4 years on the District Council and previously for 8 years on the County Council where I chaired numerous committees.

When I was elected to the District Council in 2011, I was elected as Chair of the Labour Group, a position that I have had the privilege of holding ever since. It was vital that the Labour Group formed an effective opposition to the Tories at local level and that is what I made sure happened.

Since then I have played a major part in everything that the local Labour Party has done. Labour ran a campaign opposing increases in car parking charges and the Tories did a U turn. The Tories planned to charge residents a fee for crossing council land to gain access to their own homes. Again the Tories were forced into a U turn. I have been instrumental in the creation of a Peace Garden at Coalville Park to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of the first World War.
