Jamie McMahon, Labour parliamentary candidate for North West Leicestershire, has welcomed plans by West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to bring new NHS clinics to Ashby.
At the CCG’s Board meeting on the 9th December the CCG agreed to plans to introduce new outpatients services to Ashby. These include: Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Cardiology, Falls Clinic, ENT and Community Children’s Services.
Earlier this year when news that AshbyHospital may be closed Jamie launched a campaign to protect and improve the services local people receive from the NHS. Commitments to maintain current outpatient services in Ashby were welcomed but news that the NHS has heard calls for more services in Ashby is excellent.
Jamie is calling on the NHS to make clear as soon as possible the location of all outpatient services in Ashby, both existing and new services.
Labour parliamentary candidate Jamie McMahon said:
“It’s great news that the NHS plan to bring more outpatient services to Ashby. More services locally are vitally needed. I’m delighted the NHS has heard the calls of local people, including myself, to not only protect the outpatient services Ashby already has but provide more. Protecting services was a key part of my long running campaign on Ashby health services and we’re continuing to make good progress, but we have more still to do."
"This commitment to more services is great but the NHS now needs to tell us exactly where the services will be provided. I’ll be using my experience working with the NHS every day for a disabled children’s charity to keep the pressure up and ensure Ashby residents get the best possible health services locally."
