Jamie joins People’s March for the NHS

I was honoured to join yesterday's People’s March through Leicestershire and sign an open letter of support for our NHS. Defending the NHS is a top priority for Labour.

The symbolic march, which follows the footsteps of the famous Jarrow Crusade, draws attention to the Government’s destruction of the National Health Service. Thousands of people are joining the March from Jarrow to London to show their commitment to the NHS.

I have also joined Labour figures from across Leicestershire in signing an open letter in support of the NHS and the March.

Under the Tory-led government we are seeing a nationwide A&E crisis, growing waiting lists, cancer treatment standards being missed and the wide scale privatisation of our NHS. Working for a disabled children’s charity I know the importance of our NHS.

We need a government that recognises the importance of the NHS and halts the privatisation.

Labour will repeal Cameron and Clegg’s NHS changes.

Labour will guarantee a GP appointment within 48 hours and on the same day for those who need it.

Labour will make sure NHS staff can focus on care and not competition law.
