Jamie welcomes Ashby Town Council decision on hospital

DSCF1689.JPGI am delighted to see that Ashby Town Councillors have this week come together to join others in raising concerns about the future of Ashby Hospital in the current consultation. As the consultation was launched I said we need a number of assurances before any closure can be considered.

Firstly, greater clarity on the provision of outpatients and therapy care in Ashby, with no gaps.

Secondly more information on the benefits of more care at home, rather than the current inpatients facilities at Ashby.

Finally we need more certainty on the future of this historic building.

The future of Ashby Hospital remains an important issue for local residents and I’m delighted to see Town Councillors lend their support to this approach by passing a motion which says: “We are unconvinced that either Option 1 or Option 2 provides sufficient reassurance for the people of Ashby.  We would prefer that the alternatives to existing provision are demonstrated to work and to be an improvement before any facilities are closed.”

It’s important we work together to ensure the best NHS facilities are provided for local people in Ashby and I remind people they only have until April 6th to make their views known at www.westleicestershireccg.nhs.uk/consultation-hub.
