Coalville Heritage Society Misquoted over Snibston

Tories continue to mislead the public over Snibston Discovery Museum.

Cllr Alison Smith, Tory Deputy Leader at North West Leicestershire District Council, told fellow Councillors that a local mining museum has been championed for some time by the Coalville Heritage Society.

This statement has come as a surprise to the Coalville Heritage Society whose members were involved in the development of Snibston Discovery Museum in its current form.

Local historians have told me that Cllr Smith's statement is a gross misrepresentation of their views. Tories appear to be playing fast and loose with the facts in their desperation to push through their plans to demolish Snibston Main Gallery and build houses on the land.

North West Leicestershire Labour Group Leader Cllr Tom Neilson said "I am appalled at this misrepresentation of the facts. I am not sure how the Tories are going to wriggle out of this one".
