Doug Cooper - Ashby de la Zouch

Doug_Cooper_-_County_Council_Elections.jpgI moved to Ashby 15 years ago when my employer relocated here. Now in retirement I’ve more time to enjoy this fine old market town but fear that Ashby will be a less attractive place to live in the future. I want to make sure this doesn't happen. We must not only conserve but enhance our town.

I am particularly concerned about transport, being a keen walker and cyclist, as well as a member of the Transport and Accessibility group for the Neighbourhood Plan.

I am very aware of the imbalance between the needs of car drivers and traders on the one hand against those of shoppers and users of public transport on the other.

In the short-term we need to improve the bus service and in the long-term reopen the National Forest Line to passengers.
